Stop grasping

Stop reaching.  Stop grasping.  There’s nothing out there for you.  Nothing you need.  You’re okay.  Stand where you are.  Own that place.  Own this moment.  Stop reaching in your mind for another moment.  Another situation.  When [       ] then I’ll be happy.  Then I’ll have peace.  Then I’ll rest.  How many things have this power over you?  How many things tell you, “You can’t be happy or peaceful until you satisfy me.  I say when you get to be happy.  I say when you get to rest!”

There is a rest waiting for us.  Not on the other side of accomplishment.  It’s actually so close that we can’t see it.  Like a gnat that flies so close to your eyes that you can’t focus on it.  You only know to swat it away.  Salvation is so Now that we can’t reach it.  Not with a mind that only looks forward and backward and can’t see the present.

It seems like the hardest thing in the world is to do what we were made to do.  Be Here Now.  It’s not complicated, but it’s hard as hell for most of us.  There is a rest waiting for us.  Pretty soon there will be nothing left for us to do, and we’ll be confronted by the present.  Forced to deal with this moment.  I’m avoiding it right now by blogging.  Putting off what I know is waiting for me.  The uncomfortable present.  But it’s followed by the blissful present.  It’s just hard to wait for it or break through.  It’s all coming down, you know.  God, that’s going to be uncomfortable.

That which is about to happen to us is going to be the best thing that ever happened to us.
